Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) is a set of concepts and techniques for managing the infrastructure, development, and operation of information technology (IT). ITIL is published in a series of books, each of which discusses a topic of IT management. Name of ITIL and IT Infrastructure Library is a registered trademark of the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) of the United Kingdom. Widespread use of the new ITIL in the mid-1990s with both versions of the specification (ITIL v2) is best known for the two sets of books relating to the ITSM (IT Service Management), the Service Delivery (Inter Services) and Service Support (Support Services). later, the OGC published the third version of ITIL (ITIL v3) consists of five parts, and more emphasis on life cycle management of services provided by information technology. These five sections are:
1. Service Strategy
2. Service Design
3. Service Transition
4. Service Operation
5. Continual Service Improvement
